My name is Christy Tipton and this cutie with me is my 10 year old malti-poo, Moose. I am a wife and a mother of two grown children who have flown the nest.
How did this all get started?
In May of 2026, I finished my 28th year of teaching. I didn't want to get bored, so I knew I needed a new hobby to keep myself busy. I have always loved one of a kind items-especially when they are handmade. I have never thought of myself as a seamstress, but I became fascinated with the idea of sewing handmade animals. After mentioning this during a small group meeting with our church family, one of the ladies offered to give me a sewing maching along with lessons on how to use it. So together, over a couple of days, she helped me create my very first critter. I quickly became obsessed and quickly practiced to develop my skills.
Why did I call my business Moose and Me and Christy's Critters?
When I designed my logo to put with my dolls, I knew I wanted a cute name. Here in the south, we often refer to animals as "critters", so I decided to use some alliteration (28 years teaching ELA) and create Christy's Critters. However, because I also make other items besides the dolls, I wanted an over-arching business name. That is where Moose and Me Creations came in.
I decided since it would just be Moose and me at home for the next few years (until my husband finally retires), that Moose should have a prominant spot in the name. He does hang out with me all day while I work. Moose is featured on both the Christy's Critters and Moose and Me Creations logos.
What started as a hobby has grown into something I’m so excited to share—I hope you will enjoy your critter as much as I have loved making them.
